January: Gelada Monkey

The Gelada Monkey is native to high grassland in the central Ethiopian plateau. They are mostly graminivores and grazers, and the majority of their diet is grass blades. Also known as the " Bleeding heart monkey", Geladas have a large red mark on their chests. They the only member of the genus theropithicus  and are mainly terrestrial, spending most of their time time put in the grasslands and foraging.
